The Muazzin (Call to Prayer)
Calling to prayer is an act of piety and worship. If the people knew the virtue of making the adhaan, they would race to it and cast lot over it. How would the muezzin not be honorable when he raises his voice with the statement of tawheed and announces it. The Messenger of Allah alayhi wa sallam said, The muezzin will have the longest neck among the people on the Day of Qiyaamah.
A long neck is a sign of beauty and it is appropriate to the righteous deeds of making the adhaan, since they convery with their voices the words of the adhaan which announces Allahs Onesness and invites to the prayer. Every fresh and dry and dry object to which his voice reaches in the world will bear witness for the muezzin.
Abu Saeed il-Khudree once said to Abdur Rahman Ibn Saah, I see that you like sheep and the wilderness. So whenever you are with your sheep or in the wilderness and you want to call the adhaan for the prayer, raise your voice in doing so, for no one hears the Adhaan, whether a human being a jinn or any other creature, except that he will be a witness for you on the Day og Resurrection.
