The Situation of a Betrayer on The Day of Resurrection
Betrayal and treachery are attributes of the hypocrites. When a hypocrite commits himself to a pledge and proves treacherous when peole had enstrusted him with their wealth, conencants and pledges, he betrays them and he is deceitful. However, he will be exposed on the Day of resurrection in a most disgraceful manner. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said,
When Allah will gather together on the Day of Judgment all the earlier and later generations of mankind, a flag will be raised (to mark of) every person guilty of breach of faith, and it will be announced that this is the perfidy of so and so, son of so and so (to attract the attention of people to his guilt).
The betrayer is he who betrays. He pleges something but does not fulfill it and he breaches his trusts.
A flag is a large banner which is held by an army connamder with followers.
A flag will be hoised for the perfidious to reveal his treachery and he would thys be exposed on the Day of Judgment and the flag would be fixed to his buttocks. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said,
On the Day of Judgment there will be a flad dixed behind the buttocks of every person guilty of the breach of faith.´´137
The more serious the breach of faith is the higher and numerous the flag will be. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said,
On the Day of Judgment there will be a flag for every oersib guilty of the breach of faith. It will be raised in proportion to the extent of his guilt; and there is no guilt treachery more serious than the one committed by the ruler of men. a ruler of men includes every leader and governor. The betrayal of a ruler is more serious because his harm extends to many of Allah´s creatures. He has power and is in no need to betray anyone. Also, when he betrays, jos victims are incapable of exacting revenge or of demanding their rights due to his dominance and power. This applies to every leader whether he is a manager over his employees in a company or one who fails to pay their wages, or an adminstrator of a school or university, or a chief executive that toys with contract agreements after its retification.
The Arabs in the period of ginorance used to hoist flags for the betrayer or a trust at the meeting places and during the season of Hajj. Similarly, they would parade a criminal along with his crime. If hw was a thief, he would be taken round the people along with what he had stolen to expose and deter him (from repeating the brime)
