The Squeezed in the Fire

This is Allah says: ´´The Bridge will be set over the fire of Jahannam on thorns similar to the thorns of as-Sa´dan and the people will seek protection: there will be definte survivors, some would survive with burns and some will be pushed into the fire of Hell. (doc 192)62

In hadith, Abu Sa´eed al-Khudri narrated that the Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam said concerning the Bridge:

´´There will be hooks, tongs, and spits like the thorn that is found in Najd and is known as Sa´dan. The believers will then pass over within the twinkling of an eye, like lighting, like wind, like a bird, like the finest horses and camels. Some will escape and be safe, some will be lacerated and let go, and some will be pushed into the fire of Hel until the last of them pass like the movement of clouds.´´´63

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam also informed us that the thorns that will be on the Siraat and big and massive. He said:

´´There will be hooks like the thorns of Sa´dan in Hell. Have you seen the thorns of Sa´dan?´´

The people said: ´´Yes.´´

He said: ´´These hooks will be like the thorns of Sa´dan, but on one except Allah knows their greatness in size. They will entangle the people according to their deeds; some of them will fall andstay in Hell forever; others will receive punishment (torn into small pices) and will get out of Hell.´´64

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
