Companions on the Left Hand

 Allah says:

´´And those on the Left Han - how wil be those on the Left Hand? In fierce hot wind and boiling water. And shadow of black smoke. (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good.´´ (Al-Waaqi´ah: 41-44)

The companions on the Left Hand are the inmates of Hellfire who turned away from the truth in their sojourn in the world. They are those who will be given their records in their left hands and will stand on the plain of Resurrection on the left side; and how precarious will their situation be?

They will in the most intense heat; blowing against their bodies through the pores of their skins, They will drink from fierce hot and boiling water and they will be enveloped by a shadow of thick, black smoke which will neither be cool not pleasant. Allah, the Exalted recounts the horror Hellfire in another verse of the Qur´an:

´´But as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be light, he wil have his home in Haawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell). And what will make you know what it is? It (is) a hot blazing Fire.´´ (Al-Qari´ah: 8-11)

Yes, what will inform you of what al-Haaqiyah is, its heat and torment? It is a blazing fire of intense heat. The sinful criminals will fall headlong into it as a befitting punishment for those who plunged into delusion and followed Shaytaan in the World; hence, they will plunge into Hellfire in the Hereafter.

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
