Its Gates are Closed

 The gates of Hell will be locked for the criminals as a tormnt and punishment for them. Allah says:

´´But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat, they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without an opening or window or outlet.´´ (Al-Balad: 19-20)

These companions of the Left Hand are those who will be given the scroll of their deeds in their left hands on the Day of Resurrection. They are the ones meant in the following Words of Allah:

´´And those on the Left Hand - how will be those on the Left Hand? In fierce hot wind and boiling water. And shadow of black smoje, (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good.´´ (Al-Qaaqi´ah: 41-44)

The gates of Hell will be shut on those who enter it on the Day of Resurrection. The punishment will be sealed for them and they will not be able to free themselves.

However, in this world, its gates are left opened and they are closed in the month of Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained.´´109

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
