The Duties of the Keepers of Hellfire

 The keepers of hell have certain duties which they discharge. They undertake the punishment, reproach and rebuke of the denizens of the Fire; as well as kindling the Fire and intensifying its flame. They are harsh and severe on the denizens of the Fire; even as they plead for mercy, because allah created them and made their nature rough, sten and furious. Their hearts are hard, their phyisques tough and their bodies aremassive and strong. Their hearts are deprived of mercy for they were created to punish.

Al-Min´haal ibn Amr sai: ´´When Allah says: ´Size him and fetter him, then throw him in the blazing Fire,´ seventy thousand angels will rush to carry out the order. An angels will open his hand and seventy-thousand will be vasted into the Fire.´´

Describing how the keepers of Hell will treat the denizens of Hellfire upon their entry, Allah says:

´´And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, til, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened (suddenly like a prison at the arrival of the prisoners). and its keepers will say: ´Did not the Messenger come to you from yourselves, reciting to you the Verses of your Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours?´ They will say: ´Yes but the word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers.´´ (Az-Zumar:71)

 None will be saved on the Day of Resurrection except he who used to worship alah alone with Whom there is no associate. As for the other gods, they will lead their adherents into the Fire.

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
