Introduction

 The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned that some sins prevent the guilty from perceiving the smell of Paradise and they include consuming intoxicants, spreading tales and others. However, this does not mean that the one guilty of committing them is a disbeliever; rather it is a form of warning and intimidation. If Allah overlooks the sin for him, he may be admitted into Paradise but he may not perceviev its pleasant aroma the same way as others will.
