Introduction

Our Lord is Most Merciful. His mercy precedes His wrath, His forbearance overcomes His anger, and pardoning and forgivness are mor beloved to Him than punishing and depriving. With regard to the believers´ children who died in their infancy before attaining to puberty, they will be in Paradise too. Allah will honout them with entry into Paradise so that they can meet their families; so that the father may be retunited with his children and so that a parent may be delighted by his children and mother by her baby. Their hearts will be pleased by the sheer mercy of Allah. Allah says:

´´And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.´´ (At-Toor: 21)

The phrase: ´We shall not decrease,´ means that allah will not reduce the rewards of the father such that his leve will be reduced to that of his children, vertainly not! Rather, the children´s level will be raised to that of their father. When Ibn Umar recited Allah´s Words:

´´Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism.´´ (Al-Muddaththir: 38-39) He commented: ´´These are the children of the believers, they will not be held in pledge by their deeds, rather, their Lord will reunite them with their family.´´234

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´There is none of the Muslims who lost tree children (to death) who have not attained the age of responsisility (i.e. for their sins [at puberty]) but that Allah will admit him and them into Paradise by the grace of His mercy. It will be said to them: ´Go into Paradise,´ and they will say: ´Not until our parents come, not until our parents come, not until our parents come.´ It will then be said to them. ´Go into Paradise, yu and your parents. ´´´235

How merciful is our Lord to us! It is by the grace of allah that even the foetus that was miscarried will benefit its parents on the Day of Resurrection. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´None amongst the Muslims would lose three (of his) children except that Allah admits their parents into Paradise by the grace of His mercy.´´ the Companions asked: ´´Even if they (the children who died) are two, O Messenger of Allah?´´ Thereupon, he (the prophet) said: ´´Even if they are two.´´ They also asked. ´´Even if it is one, O Messenger of allah?´´ He replied: ´´Even if it is one.´´ Then he spoke about the miscarried foetus pulling its mother into Paradise with its umbilical cord.´´236

As-Siqt is the foetus that dripped from the womb of its mother (i.e. miscarried) before its birth. He might be miscarried in the fifth or sixth months for instance or even afterwards. It is from Allah´s grace on the mother who endured sorrow at the miscarriage of her foetus that it (the foetus) will pull its mother with its unbilical cord and lead her into Paradise.
