The first Food of the People of Paradise

 This will be an immense blessing and a delicious food. What will the believers eat first upon entering Paradise? abdullah ibn Salaam said:

´´When I wanted to accept Islam, I came to Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam and said: ´I would like to ask you a question.´ He said: ´Ask whatever you want.´ So I asked: ´What is the first thing the people of Paradise will eat?´´´ And he related the hadith up to where the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´It will be the extra lobe of the fish-liver.´´216

This is the extra piece of the liver of a whale and it is the best and most delicious part of it.

Thawban narrated:

´´while I was standing beside the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam, one of the rabbies of the Jews came and said: ´Peace be upon you, O Muhammad.´ I pushed him back with a push that he almost fell due to it.

Upon this he said: ´Why did you push me?´

I said: ´Cloud you not have said: ´O Messenger of Allah?´´

The Jew said: ´We call him by the name by which he was named by his family.´

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:´My name is Muhammad with which I was named by my family.´

The Jew said: ´I have come to ask you (something).´

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´Will that thing be of any benefit to you, if I tell you that?´

He (the Jew) said: ´I will lend my ears to it.´

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam drew a line with the help of the stick that he had with him and then said: ´Ask (whatever you like).´

Thereupon the Jew said: ´Where will the human beings be on the Day when the earth will change into another earth and the heavens too (will change into other heavens)?´

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´They will be in darkness beside the Bridge.´

He (the Jew) again said: ´Who amongst the people will be the first to cross (this Bridge)?´

He said: ´They will be the poor amongst the Emigrants.´

The Jew said: ´What will constitute their breakfast when they enter Paradise?´

He (the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam) replied: ´An extra lobe of the whales´ liver.´

He (the Hew) said: ´What will be their food after this?´

He (the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam) said: ´A bullock which was fed in the different quarters of Paradise will be slaughtered for them.´

He (the Jew) said: ´What will be their drink?´

He (the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam) said: ´They will be given drink from the fountain which is named ´Salsabil´.´´

The Jew said: ´You have spoken the truth. ´´´217

Yes, trutful is the speech of Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam. The first set of people that will cross the Bridge are the poor muhajireen who sacrificed their souls, wealth and lives for Allah.

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
