Remembrance of Allah

 Profusely remembering Allah by saying Subhaana´llah, Alhamdulillah and La ilaaha ill´Allah makes a servant beloved and draws him closer to allah. Whoever loves Allah he increases in His remembrance.

Allah says,

´´Therefore remember Me /by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me.´´ (Surah Al-Baqarah: 152)

´´And the men and the women who remember Allah much (with their hearts and tongues) allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).´´ (Surah Al-Ahzab: 35)

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said,

Shouldn´t I inform you of the best of your deeds and the purest with your Owner, the one that raises your status the most and which is better for you than spending gold and silver (in charity), better for you that that you meet your enemy and you strikes their necks and they strike yours.´´ They (the Compaions) said, ´´Yes.´´ The Prophet said, The Remembrance of Allah. ´´203

A man came to the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam and said, O Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam the commands of al-Islam have become numerous for me, so give me a command by which I may adhere.´´ The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said,

Do not let your tongue cease to the moist with the remembrance of Allah.´´204

The remembrance of Allah is heavy on the scale as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, two are the expressions whoch are light on the tongue, but heavy in the scale. dear to Ar-Rahman (the Compassionate One), Subhaana´llah wa bihandihi, subhaana´llah il-´Atheem (Glory be to allah and praise is due to Him; glory be to allah, the Great).´´´205

One of the best words of remembrance is to say, Al-hamdu lillah´´ and it is heavy on the scale as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said,

Cleanliness is half of faith and Al-Hamdu Lillah (Praise be to allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and Al-Hamdu Lillah (Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth.´´206

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
