Gates of Paradise

 Paradise has eight gates:

Despite its wideness, beauty and ease of passing through it, the gates of Paradise are numerous.

´´There are eight gates in Paradise; and there is a gate which is called Rayyan, through which no one will enter but the observers of fasting:´´188

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam also said:

´´Whoever spends a pair [of anything] from his wealth for the sake of Allah sbhana wa ta ala will be called from the gates of Paradise, and Paradise has eight gates. Whoever used to pray [regularly and properly] will be called from the gate of prayer; whoever used to give in charity will be called from the gates of charity; whoever used to fight in jihad will be called from the gates of jihad; and whoever used to fast [regularly] will be called from the gate of fasting.´´

Abu Bakr said: ´´ May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam, it will do not harm if a person was called from any one of them but will anyone be called from all of them, O Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam ?´´ He said:

´´Yes, and I hope that you will be one of them ´´189

Whoever combines between several acts of righteousness; such as prayer, fasting, harity and jihad, from which gate will he be called?

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
