The Leaders of the Middle-Aged Residents of Paradise

They are Abu Bakr and Umar, the two foremost Companions of Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam during his lifetime and his neighbours in his grave after his  demise.

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´Abu Bakr and Umar are the two chiefs of the middle-aged residents of Paradise from among the earlier and latter generations, except the prophets and the Messengers.´´174

How will Abu Bakr and Umar be the chiefs of the middle-aged residents of Paradise while people will enter Paradise in their youthful age of thirty-tree years?

Answer: ´Kuhuul´ which occurs in the statement of the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam is the plural of ´al-kahl´ which applies to a man whose age is between thirty and forty years. Abu Bakr and Umar, will be the leaders of whoever died at the age of khal among the Muslims and is admitted into Paradise. As for those who who died in their youth, then Al-Hasan and Al-Husain, Allah be pleasedwith them, are the two leader of the youth of al-Jannah.

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallamonce saw in Paradise (in his dream) a most beautiful place with rivers flowing around it and set in the midst of trees awaiting its resident. Umar was given that glad tiding while he was yet in the world and be truly deserved it due to his truthfulness, striving, worship and asceticism.

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´(I saw in a dream that) I entered Paradise, and behold, there was a palace built of gold! I asked: ´For whom is this palace? They (the angels) replied: ´For a man from the Quraish. O Ibn Al-Kattab! Nothing stopped me from entering it except your gheera (jealousy),´´´ Umar said: ´How dare I think og my gheera being offended by you, O Allah´s Messenger?´´´175
