 This hadith contians a fact that Allah uses tawheed to expiate sins which do not involve apostasy and exiting from the fold of Islam. As for the deeds that involve apostasy, they are incompatible with the statement of tawheed, otherwise the statement turns out to be mere words without any real mening, Someone siad to Hasan Al-Basree, ´´Some people say that whoever says ´Kaa ukaaha illallaah´ Will enter Al-Jannah.´´ Hasan repiled, ´´Whoever sayd, ´Laa ilaaha illallah´ and fulfills its rights and obligations will enter Al-Jannah.´´ The statement of ´ Laa ilaaha illallah´ is a means to attaining Al-Jannah and protecting oneself from Hell. A means is useful only when it fulfills all of its conditions and is free from all of its contradiction. The hypocrites say ´laa ilaaha illallah´ but it will not benefit them for they will occupy the deepest part of Hell because they say it merely on their tongues without corresponding belief in its mening and action by its prerequisities.

 What is meant by scrolls of deeds are sheets in which the deeds of the servants are recorded - whether good or bad. It is mentioned in numerous texts that the scrolls of deeds will be weighed. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam has indicated in the hadith of the card which mentions, laa ilaaha illa´llaah wa ana Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuuluh (There is not deity worthy of worship in truth except allah and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger).´´ The Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam said, A man from my Ummah will be called in front of all the people on the Day og Judgment. Ninety-nine scrolls will be unrolled for him; every scrool will stretch as far as the eye can see. Then Allah will say, ´Do you deny anything of this?´ He (the man) will say, ´No, O Lord.´ He (allah) will ask, ´Did the Angels recording your deeds oppress you?´ (Again) the man will say, ´No, O Lord.´ Allah will say, ´Do you have an excause? Do you have anu good deed? The man will be terrified and he will answer,...

 There are ahadith indicating that it is deeds that would be weighed in the scale as Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam said, Two are the expressions which are light on the tongue, but heavy in the scale, dear to Ar-Rahman (the Compassionate One), Subhaana´llah wa Bihamdihi, Subhaana´llah il-´Atheem (Glory be to Allah and praise is due to Him; glory be to Allah, the Great). ´´195 He also said, Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) fills the scale. ´´196 The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned here an action which he described as heavy on the scale. Therefore, we understand that deeds would be weighed and that some deeds are heavier than others.

 Is it the deeds that will be weighed or the scrolls or the slave himself? Scholars have different opinions and the more correct is that all of these will be weighed on the Day of Resurrection; ahadith of the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam point to this

 It is possible that there are a numver of scales. There may be a scale for each person´s deeds or a scale for the believers and another for the unbelievers; or every nation would have its own scale; the knowledge of all of these is with Allah. However, what could be understood from the following statement of Allah. ´´And We shall set up balances of justice on the Day of Resurrection,´´ is and indication that there will be a number of scales. Nevertheless, the verse could also refer to the great number of what is weighed. 

 This is the highest degree of justice. Their deeds will be enumerated, both trivial and significant ones, big and smaller ones, there will be no increase or decrease from thei proper measures. This is as Allah says, And We shall set up blances of justice on the Day of Resurrection, then none will be dealth with unjustly in anything. And if there be the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. And Sifficient are We as Reckoners. (Surah Al-Anbiyaa: 47)

 Texts indicate that the Scale of Justice is real, corporeal and visible. It has a tongue and two hands and it is skewed by deeds such that a side is light and the other heavy. Its size is not known and no one can determine its magnitude except Allah, the Exalted. However, it is a massive scale as Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam pointed out, The Scale of Justice will be set on the Day of Judgment and if the heavens and the earth were weighed in it, it would contain them. The angels would say, O Lord, for whom will this weigh?´ Allah would say, For whoever I will of My creatures,´ The angels would say, ´Glory be to you, we have not worshipped You as You deserve. ´´´194
