Patience Over Afflications and Being Pleased with Allah´s Decree

 It is from Allah´s mercy to His creatures that when He afflicts them, He made the afflication a means for them to attain al-Jannah. Allah says:

´´Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allah tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are as-sabririn (the patient ones, etc.)?´´ (Aal-Imraan: 142)

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´Afflictions will not cease to befall the believers in his body and wealth till he meets Allah, the Exalted, without a sin.´´ 163

Whoever demonstrates patience upon the affliction of illness, poverty, death of children, imprisonment and other worldly afflictions, his sins will be expiated and his good deeds will be multiplied.

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
