The Ten Given the Glad Tidings of Paradise
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made an explicit statement that ten individuals among his Companions are from the people of Paradise due to the precedence they have set in Islam, as well as their jihad and sacrifices. This does not however mean that these are the only Companions that will enter Paradise; certainly not! Rather, all of the noble Companions have their mertis. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam had said concerning the veterans of the Battle of Badr who numbered more than three hundred Companions:
´´What teel you that perhaps Allah has looked at the veteran of Badr and said: ´Do as you please, I have forgiven you.´´´177
The Prophet (peace be upon him) also bore witness for one thousand four hundred Companions who pledged their allegiance to the Prophet (peace be upon him) under the tree of Ar-Ridwaan at Hudibiyah. He salla alayhi wa sallm said:
´´Whoever pledged allegance under the tree will certainly enter Paradise; except the owner of the red camel.´´178
Neverheless, the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam specifically witness for these ten invidiuals to demonstrate their excellence and honour. He salla alayhi wa sallam said:
´´Ten people will og to Paradise: Abu Bakr will go to Paradise, Umar will go to Paradise, Uthman will gp to Paradise, Ali will go to Paradise, Az-Zubay will go to Paradise, Sa´d will go to Paradise, Sa´eed ibn Zayd will go to Paradise, Abu Ubaydah ibn Al-Jarraah will go to Paradise.´´179
