Their Sides Forsake their Beds

 Allah explains that the people of al-Jannah worked for it and exerted efforts to attain it as mentioned by Sahl Ibn sa´d:

I witnessed a sitting during which the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam described al-Jannah till he said at the end of his speech:

´´In it is what eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and whose inagination has not occurred to the human mind.´ then he recited these verses:

´Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in Allah´s Cause) out of what We have bestowed on them. No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.´´´156

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam exlained that the least thing in Paradise is better than the world and all that it contains. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said:

´´If a man from the people of al-Jannah was to appear and his bracelet is exposed, its illumination will outshine the sun just as the sun outshines the stars.´´157

Voluntary Fasting

 Fasting is one of the major acts of worship with which Allah redeems the fasting person from the Fire. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Fasting is a shield against the Fire (of Hell) just like the shield one of you would use during fighting.´´80 The supererogatory fasting has its virtue. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´He who observes fast for a day in the path of Allah, He will remove his face from the Hell due to (the fast of) that day to the extent of seventy years.´ distance.´´81 The phrase ´in the path of Allah´ could either mean fasting a day sincerely, intending the pleasure of Allah; or fasting in the course of a military expedition in the path of Allah.

Backbiter and Tale-Bearer

 A backbiter is the individual who indugles in backiting which involves mentioning about your brother that which he would detest. The tale-bearer is the person who varries bad tale among the people in order to cause disaffection among them. These sins cause pervading tribulations, and enormous corruption also stems from them. Their perpetrators are among the worst of people and due to their capricious tongue, they speak as dictated by their whims and desires.  Their situation at the time of resurrection will be appalling as the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned, Whoever eats the flesh of his brother in the world (i.e. bacjbites), he will be presented to him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said to him, Eat his dead as you have eaten him alive. He would eat him and he would scowl and scream.
