Who will be the majority in Paradise; males or females?

answer: The Companions were discussing this issue in the presence of Abu Hurayrah and he said:

´´Has Abul Qaasim not said: ´´They first batch (of people) who will enter Paradise will be (glittering) like a full moon; and those who will enter next will be (glittering) like the brightest star. Every one of them shall have two wives, each of whom will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the flesh. ´´241

This hadith is clear evidence that women will outnumber the men in Paradise. The number of women in Paradise doubles that of the men and even more. The enjoyment of the righteous women who enter Paradise is greater than that of the Hoor al-´ayn as shall be discussed later.

How do we reconcile between the fact that women will be the majority of the swellers of Paradise and the following hadith: ´´O women! Give alms, for I have seen that you were the majority of the dwellers of Hellfir?´´

The answer to this is that women outnumber the men in the world. It is recorded in the hadith that at the end of time in the world a man will be in charge of fifty women. In our time, the relative increase in the birth rate of female children over that of males is obvious; so much so that in some countries the ratio has reached 5 females to 1 male. This informs us of the reason why women are the majority of human beings in existence. By the same token, if half of all the men and half of all the women in the world were to enter Paradise, women will be the majority of its dwellers and the same would apply if a quarter of the men and a quarter of the women of the world were to enter Hellfire.

Hence, the hadith; ´Women are the majority of the inmates of Hellfire´ should not be understood as incrimination of the female gender or a disparagement of them or that women commit more sins than men.
