Conclusion

Praise be to Allah and may the salutation and peace of allah be upon Allah´s Messenger, his household and his Companions in their entirety. To proceed, one of the causes of the success in this world and the Hereafter is the heart´s turning towards allah humbly and submissively, seeking nearness to and in awe (of its Creator). Naturally, this results in worship and love for the Lord of all the worlds. Allah says: ´´Is one who is obedient to Allah, prostrating himself or standing (in prayer) during this hours of the night, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the Mercy of his Lord (like one who disbelievers)? Say: ´are those who know ewual to those who know not?´ It is only men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allah´s signs and verses.´´ (Az-Zumar: 9) Part os what keeps a man firm upon that is his certitude about the Hereafter and familiarity with its events and realities. hence, I have authored this book and I have taken care to adhere to what is recorded ...

A Spectacle

The people of Paradise and the people of Hell will clearly see death being slaughtered in order to increase their certitude concerning eternity.

The Slaughtering of Death

Death assails the child and truncates his life. It assails the merchant and prevents him from his merchandise. It assails the sick and relieves him of his illness. Death assails everyone; it does not distinguish between the old and the young or between the rich and the poor. Death is a door through which everyone must enter. Death is not remembered at the time of pleasure except that is reduces it and it is not remembered at the time of comfort except that it tarnishes it. However, in Paradise, there is no death! Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´When the poeple of the Fire have entered the Fire and the people of Paradise have entered Paradise, deathw ill be brought forward in the shape of a black and white ram. Then a caller will call: ´O people of Paradise! Thereupon they will stretch their necks and look carefully. The caller will say: ´Do you know this!´ They will say: ´Yes, this is Death.´ By then all of them will have seen it. Then it will be announced again: ...

Eternity of the People of Paradise

They will live eternally in it without leaving it or dying. Allah says: ´´FOr such, the reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath (Paradise), wherein they shall abide forever. Hiw excellent is this reward for the doers (who do righteous deeds according to Allah´s Orders.´´ (Aal-Imran: 136) ´´And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord will, a gift without an end.´´ (Hood: 108) The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Whoever enter Paradise will abide therein and he will not die. He will enjoy therein and will not become miserable. His cloth will not wear our and his youthulness will not vanish.´´ Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa salla also said: ´´A caller will call out: ´Verily, there is in store for you (everlasting) health and that you will never fall ill and that you will live (forever) and you will not die at all. And that you will re...

The Slaughtering of Death

Part of what will increase the inclination of the people of Paradise for Paradise and its enjoyment and delight is that Allah will let them abide therein forever; they will not die, grow old or become extinct. They will not fall ill or grieve. How will they abide therein forever? What will become of death? Introduction One of the things that spoil the comfort of a slave and reduce its enjoyment is his thought at one time or the other that the comfort will depart and cease from him. This is the situation of the comfort of the world, however great and good, it will cease and depart. As for the comfort of the Hereafter, it is permanent. Allah says: ´´Say; ´Shall I inform you of things far better than those? For al-muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2) there are Gardens (Paradise) with their Lord, underneath which rivers flow. Therein (is their) etermal (home) and azwajun mutahharantun (purified mates or wives) [i.e. they will have no menses, urine, or stool, etc.], And Allah will be pleas...

Some will Wish for a Child

Despite that Allah has reunited the believer with his believing children in Paradise and his delight in the midst of his children and wife being one of the greatest joy, a believer in Paradise will yearn that a child be born for him. He will desire to have a child and Allah will accomplish it for him in a twinkle of an eye. His wife will get pregnant and deliver the baby immediately without any labour pain, waiting period, hardship or difficulty. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´If a believer desires a child in Paradise, its pregmancy, birth and youth will occur as he wishes in a single moment.´´ 264

A Man who Loves Cultivation

In the world a man would exert himself in cultivation, tilling the soil and other concerns for his livelihood and to eed his children. He would endure hardship and heat because of that. However, in Paradise, he will be in the midst of gardens, rivers, green fields and an honourable place, hence, he will not need to cultivate and plant. Nevertheless, a man of Paradise will wish to cultivate. Here is his story. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam was addressigng his Companions one day and a Bedouin man was present. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´A man from the people of Paradise will ask his Lord for permission to cultivate. Allah will ask him: ´Do you not have all that you want?´´ He will say: ´Of course, but I love to cultivate.´ So he will sow the seeds and in the bliking of an eye the plant will grow and its fruit will rippen and become like mountains. Allah will say: ´Here it is, O son of Aadam, nothing satisfies you.!´ When the Bedouin who...

The Wish of the people of Paradise

In Paradise, hearts will be satified and eyes will be delighted and at no time will a slave wish for something except that he gets it. Nothing occurs to him except that it is present before him. The wishes of the people of Paradise will be numerous in Paradise and so shall their enjoyment be.

The highest ranked of them will see our Lord morning and evening

Since the poeple of Paradise are varying in their levels, the comfort some will enjoy in Paradise will be more than the pthers. Concerning that, the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´The least ranked person from the people of Paradise is the one who will tour his domain and delight for one thousand years. He will see its furthest in the same way he sees its nearest. The highest ranked of them will behold his Lord morning and evening. ´´262

Seeing Allah is the Greatest Bliss of Paradise

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam descirbed that Paradise is built up of gold and silver. He also described its beauty and splendour and added that despite this bliss and comfort, the poeple of Paradise will increase in delight and joy by looking at the Face of Allah, the Exalted. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´(There will be) two Paradises of silver and all the utensils and whatever is therein (will be of silver). and two Paradises of gold, and its utensils and whatever therein (will be of gold), and there will be nothing to prevent the people from seeing their Lord except the Apparel of Majesty over His Face in the Paradise of Eden (enternal bliss).´´261 We beseech Allah to not deny us the joy of beholding His Face Ameen.

Those who offer salaah will have precedence in seeing Allah, the Exalted

Our Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam used to remind his Companions at every auspicious moment that they will see their Lord in the HEreafter. He used to connect their hearts to that and trigger their yearning for it. He mentioned that whoever preserves the offering of the two Salaahs of Al-Fajr and Al-Ars will deserve to behold the Countenance of Allah, the Exalted. Jarir Ibn Abdillah narrated: ´´We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam when he raised his head to the sky on a night of a full moon and when he saw the moon he observed: ´You shall see your Lord as you are seeing this moon, and you will have no trouble in looking of Him. So if you can, do not let yourselves be overpowered from observing the prayer before the rising of the sun and its setting (i.e. the Fajr and the ´Ars prayers)´´´260 The hadith means that if you can avoid Shaytaan overpowering you from missing salaah ul-Fajr and salaah tul-Ars. then do so.

Allah´s Pleasure and Seeing Him

Allah will combine for the people of Paradise His pleasure and their seeing Him. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Allah will say to the people of Paradise: ´O the people of Paradise! They will say: ´Labbaik, O our Lord, and Sa ´daik!´ allah will say: ´Are you pleased?´ They will say: ´Why should we not be pleased since You have given us what You have not given to any one of Your creation?´ Allah will say: ´I will given you something better than that.´ They will reply: ´O our Lord! And what is better than that? Allah will say: ´I will bestow My pleasure and contentment upon you so that I will never ne abgry with you after forever.´´´259

When will the people of Paradise see Allah?

Answer: The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam once recited the following Words of Allah: ´´FOr those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Paradise) and even more (i.e. having the honour of glancing at the Countenance of allah).´´ (Yunus: 26) Whereupon he said: ´´When those deserving of Paradise will have entered Paradise and those deserving Hell will have entered Hell, an amouncer will amounce: ´O people of Paradise, you have a covenant with Allah which He words to fulfil for you.´ They will say: ´What could it be? Has He not made our scale (of righteous deeds= heavy, brightened our faces, made us enter Paradise and saved us from Fire? Whereupo the veil will be lifted for them and they will behold Allah, and of things given to them nothing would be dearer to them than the sight of Him and that is ´the more´ (That was promised them).´´258

The Companions used to Ask about Seeing Allah

The noble Companions are the best of the believers and role models for the righteous. The love of allah filled and dominated their hearts. Out of the entire community of believers, they had the most complete eemaan, the clearest reed and they were most prolific in acts of devolation. Some Companions once asked the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam saying: ´O Messenger of Allah, shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?´ The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´Do you have any trouble in seeing the moon on the night when it is full?´ They said: ´No, Messenger of Allah.´ He (the Messenger) further said: ´Do you have any trouble in seeing the sun, when there is no cloud over it?´ They said: ´No, O Messenger of Allah.´ He (the Prophet) said: ´Verily you would see Him like this (i.e. as you see the sun and the moon).´257 This means that they will see Him clearly and directly; without crowding or squeezing one another.

The Believers´ Seeing their Lord, the Mighty and Exalted

The seeing of Allah in the Hereafter is an increase in goodness, a great favour and the utmost goal. Allah the enjoyment of Paradise will diminish when compared to the joy of beholding the Face of our Mighty Lord. We beseech Allah to grant us the delight of beholding His Face - Ameen. When will the believers see tehir Lord? What are the evidences for this sighting? What joy is involved in that? Introduction Allah explained that the obedient and pious believers who have been broguth near will see Him, Glory be to Him. Allah says: ´´FOr those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Paradise) and even more (i.e. having the honour of glancing at the Countenance of Allah).´´ (Yunus: 26) Allah also says: ´´Some faces that Day shall be nadirah (shining and radiant). Looking at their Lord (Allah).´´ (Al-Qiyaamah: 22.23 The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´When those deserving of Paradise will enter Paradise, the Blessed and the Exalted will ask: ´Do you wish Me to gi...

An Opportunity

Life is an opportunity that does not repeat itself; be careful not to waste it with bad company.

The Condition of his Companion

When he and fellow dwellers of Paradise look into the Hellfire, they will see this evil companion wallowing in the dungeons of Hell. Burning is its flames, screaming from its torments, pleading for help but finding none and serpents and embers of fire surround him. Allah says: ´´So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.´´ (As-Saafaar: 55) Yes, he will see him in the midst of the fire; his colour darkened, his skin torn apart and his punishment enormous. This is the punishment of the one who exceeded the proper limit and turned away from the truth; and the one who became insolent and rejected (the truth). Upon seeing that, the heart of the believer will be filled with hoy and soar with happiness. He will thank his Rabb that he did not obey this sinful companion in the world and that he did not follow him in his misguidance. Then he will begin to blame his erstwhile companion for going astray and thank Allah for protecting him from deviation. Allah says: ´´He said: ´By...

They Story of a Fellow and his Companion

The people of Paradise will meet, visit one another and recollect their mutual affairs in the world. They will discuss, socialise and ask one another about individuals who used to be with them in the world. While they recline on raised thrones, they will ask one another about the situation in which they were in the world till their discussion and reveollection will remind on eof the believers of a man who used to accompany him in the world and who used to deny the Day of Resurrection and make him despair about meeting Allah. This man will speak about this evil companions to the other dewellers of Paradsie. Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, describes this event in the following words in the Qur´an: ´´Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. A speaker of them will say: ´Verily, I had a companion (in the world) Who used to say: ´´Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death); (That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to...

Verily, I had a Companion!

The people of Paradise will vary in their delight and desires. There will be for them in Paradise what satisfies their hearts and delights their sight and they will have whatever occurs to their hearts. Will they remember thir life in the world? What will be the situation of their acquaintances in the Hellfire? What will be their dialogue? Introduction The people of Paradise will have sitting where they will discuss whatever they like. They will discuss their mutual affairs during their sojourn in the world. Similarly, they will remember the poeple of Hellfire and thank Allah for saving them from its torment. There are narrations concerning that and they include the following:

They will Yearn to Visit the Market

The extent of the delight and enjoyment in the market of Paradise will be such that the poeple of Paradise will look forward to it. Sa´eed ibn Musayyab met Abu Hurayrah and he (Abu Hurayrah) said to him: ´´I aks Allah to gather me and you together at the market of Paradise.´´ Sa´eed said: ´´Is there a market in it? He said: ´´Yes, the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam informed me that when the people of Paradise enter it, they will reside there by the grace of their actions and a announcement will be made for them at the time of the Friday among the days of the world. Then, they will visit Allah, the Mighty and Exalted. His Throne will appear to them and He will reveal Himself to them in one of the gardens of Paradise and platforms of light, of pearls, platforms of rubies, platforms of gems, platforms of gold and platforms of silver will be set for them. The least and lowest of them in rank will sit on a sand hill of musk and kaafuur. The occupants of one flatform will not...

The BEauty of the Market of Paradise

The market of Paradise is not similar to those of the world in terms of its delight, beauty and what is on display thereat. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´In Paradise there is a market to which the poeple will come every Friday, then a wind will come from the north and blow on their faces and clothes, and tehy will increase in beauty. Then they will return to their wives, who will also have increased in beauty. Their wives will say to them: ´By Allah, you increasedin beauty after you left us.´ And they will say: ´And you too, by Allah, you have increasted in beauty since you left us. ´´´ 254 The poeple of Paradise will congregate at the market of Paradise just as they gather at the market in the world. The breeze of Paradise is specified to the north because the north wind is a precursor of rain among the Arabs and it blows from the direction of Shaam with clouds of rain. They would hope for the northern Shaam clouds which would blow this breeze on them and it will sti...

Faithfulness

Two spuses that aided each other upon the religion in the world will be reunited in Paradise in security.

The People of Paradise will be Busy

They will be preoccupied with delight, pleasure, and enjoyment of their wives in Paradise. Allah says: ´´Verily, the dwellers of the Paradise, that Day, will be busy in joyful things. They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.´´ (Yaasin: 55-56) Allah also says: ´´(You) who believed in Our Ayat (proofs, verses, lessons, sings, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e. who submit totally to Allah´s Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism). Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happens.´´ (Za-Zukhruf: 69-70) We mentioned that a woman will be in Paradise with the husband to whom she was married in the world. However, if a woman was married to two men in the world (at different times) and all of them enter Paradise, to which of the men will she belong? Answer: Umm Habeebah, the wife of the Prophet, asked them Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam this question: ´´O Messenger of Allah, a woman amongst us who had two husband in the w...

Excellent is the Fimal Home

This is the admittance into the Garden of Eden to abide therein eternally without having to leave and in enjoyment that will be constantly renewed for them. Allah will reunite the believers with their beloved among their fathers, wives and children who were righteous; so that they may be comforted by the presence of their families. The angels will visit them fromevery gate, offering them the greeting of peace and congratulating them on their successful entrance into Paradise. The angels will say: ´´As-salaam alaikum,´´ i.e. yours will be perpetual security and safety from all offlications. You had exercised patience, so enjoy the fruits of your patience. You endured diffculties and pains, now you are free and how excellent is your end and how enormous is your reward. The connection between the angels and the believers is ancient, from the days of the believers´ sojourn in the world Allah has informed us that the angels bearing the Throne and those surrounding them pray for forgive...

Introduction

The wife of the a believer in the world will also be his wife in Paradise; with the exception that Allah will increase the two spouses in facial beauty and good character in the Hereafter. From Allah´s favour and mercy is that He will raise the status of the wife to her husband´s if it is higher and the husband´s level will be raised to that of his wife if it is higher than his. Allah says: ´´ Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), which they shall enter and (also) those who acted righteously from among their fathers, and their wives, and their offspring and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (Saying): ´´Salamun ´alaikun (peave be upon you) for that you perserved in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home.´´ (ar-Ra´d: 23-24)

Wife in the World and the Hereafter!

If the wife of a believer is righteous in the world and beloved to her husband and vice versa: Will she be his wife in Paradise Will they be of different levels?

Their Faces will be Filled with Light

This is from the perfection of their beauty and attractiveness such that an onlooker will se light in her face due to the intensity of her skin´s whitness and clarity. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam: ´´If one of the women of Paradise looked at the earth, she would fill the whole space between them (the earth and the heaven) with light, and would fill whatever is in between them with perfume, and the veil of her face is better than the whole world and whatever is in it. ´´252 In his commentary of the verse. ´´(In beauty) they are like rubies and coral´´ (Ar-Rahman: 58) The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam sais: ´´He will see the reflection of his face on her cheeks clearer than in a mirror. The least glitter on her will illuminate what is between the East and the West. She would adorn seventy garments though which his sight will penetrate such that he would be able to see the marrow of her skin behind all of that (garments) ´´253

They Have Good Charachters

Allah describes the women of Paradise that they have good attributes and character along with attractive faces. Allah says: ´´Therein (gardens) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful.´´ (Ar-Rahman: 70)

Crystal Skin like Pearls

This is as Allah says: ´´(In beauty) they are like rubies and coral.´´ (Ar-Rahman: 58) i.e. their skin will have the clarity of rubies and the witheness of coral to the extent that onlokkers will see the bone of her shin from under her skin. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´The first batch (of people) who will enter Paradise will be (glittering) like a full moon; and those who will enter next will be (glittering) like the brightest star. Every one of them shall have two wives, each of whom will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the flesh.´´251

Virgin Girls

This is as is contained in the following Words of Allah: ´´Wherein both will be those (maidens) restraining their glances upon their husband, whom no man or jinn yatmithhunna (has opened their hymens with sexual interourse) before them.´´ (Ar-Rahman: 56) That is, no human or jinn will have had any sexual relation with them before their husband.

They love their Husbands

The women of Paradise will be ever-willing to please their husbands. There will be no uncoutness in them. Allah says: ´´Loving (their husbands only), equal in age.´´ (Al-Waaqi´ah: 37) A woman who is ´urub is the one who is loving and naturally pleasant to her husband.

Their Physical beauty

Along with the bloom and beauty of their faces, Allah will also increase the beauty and symmetry of their bodies. Allah says: ´´Verily, for the muttaqun, there will be success (Paradise); gardens and grapeyards; and young full.breasted (mature) maidens of equal age.´´ (An-Nabaa: 31-33)

She will find her Husband the Most Handsome of Men

This is from the perfection of pleasure for the wife and husband. She will fill his eyes with her beauty and vovice versa. Allah says: ´´And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances, with wide and beautiful eyes.´´ (As-Saafaar: 48) The phrase: ´´Restraining their glances´´ means she restrains her glances only for her husband and turns her attention to no other person. She has no desire in anyone else except her husband because she will see him as the most handsome of men.

THey will not Menstruate

This is to perfect their pleasure and that of their husband. Allah says: ´´Therein they shall have azwajun mutahharatun [purified mate or wives].´´ (An-Nisaa: 57) That is, they will be purified from menses, post-partum blood, urine, stools, mucus, spittle and other filths. They are also purified from despicable characters and attributes and from vulgarity and obsenity.

The Women of Paradise will be in their Youthful Age

This will be most pleasurable for them and their spouses. Allah says: ´´Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation and made them virgins, loving (their husbands only), equal in age for those on the Right Hand.´´ (Al-Waaqi´ah: 35-37) The following words of Allah: ´´Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation´´ means that Allah will receate the human beliving ladies in a form different from their first one. They will become young virgins and this is attested to by what Aisha reported about an old woman from the Ansaar who came to the Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam and said: ´O Messenger of Allah, beseech Allah to admit me into Paradise.´ The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam responded to her jokingly, ´Paradise will not be entered by old people.´ The old woman went away sorrowful believing that she would never enter Paradise! The Prophet went to pray and returned to Aisha and she said: ´I experienced discomfort and harshness from your word.´ The Prophet s...

Women of Paradise are Beautiful

Allah says: ´´So (it will be), and We shall marry them to Horris (female fair ones) with wide, lovely eyes. ´´(Ad-Dukhaan: 54) The believer in Paradise will be married to his righteous wife in the world and she will have lovely eyes, beautiful features, perfect figure and tender body. Al-Hoor is the plural of hawraa which is a young, beautiful and lovely girl whose intense beauty would bewilder the onlooker due to her attractiveness, witheness and fineness of her colour. As for the term´ Hoor al-´Ayn´, it is a girl with wide eyes and a very dark iris, set in an extremely white surrounding.

Introduction

Allah describes the women of Paradise among the Hoor al-´Ayn and their beauty, external and internal charm with different attributes. These is none of these beautiful attributes with which the Hoor al-´Ayn are described but that the believing women will be more beautiful and charming. Allah will not treat them equally with the believing women who exhausted themselves in the world, offered salaah, devoted themselves, avoided the prohibited, fasted during the day and wept in the early hours of the morning. Hence, Allah will not make them equal in beauty, charm and honour even though a Hooriyyah was created for Paradise and was not encumbered with worship prior to that. Each of the following attributes of the Hoor al-´Ayn serves to inform us that the believing women will be more beautiful and prettier. Umm Salamah, the wife of the prophet salla alayhi wa sallam narrated: O Messenger of  Allah, who will be superior; the women of the world or the Hoor al-´Ayn?´´ He said: ´´The wom...

Women in Paradise

Paradise is a perfect comfort for both men and women. Allah says: ´´Allah has promised to the believers - men and women, - Gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever, and beautiful mansions in Gardens of ´Adn (Eden Paradise), But the greatest bliss the Good Pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme success.´´ (At-Taubah: 72) Several ahadith have described the handsomeness of the men of Paradise so that the believers´ personal comfort and appearance may be perfected and so that their wives in Paradise may also derive comfort from them. Similarly other ahadith describe the comfort and beauty of the believing women of Paradise so that her spouse may derive comfort by her. What are the attributes of the women of Paradise? Will the shapes of the believing women change in Paradise? Who will be greater in status between the believing women from the world or the Hoor al-´Ayn?

How many are the servants of Paradise?

Answer: The servants of Paradise will be numerous in number. Abdullah ibn Umar said: ´´There is none of the people of Paradise who will not be served by one thousand servants; each servants doing work different from that of the others. ´´248

Servants of the People of Paradise

Along with comfort, physical enjoyment and luxury, the people of Paradise will also have beautiful servants who are delightful to the eyes and the meeting of whom exhilarates the heart. Who are the servants of Paradise What are the attributes of these servants? How manu are they? Introduction The people of Paradise will move around in Paradise while servants go around them at their beck and call, in their beauty and splendour, as if they are snow-white pearls, yet to come out of their shells, untouched by sun or wind. Allah says: ´´And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.´´ (At-Toor: 24) Allah also says: ´´And round about them will (serve) boyd of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think scattered pearls.´´ (Al-Insaan: 19) The phrase ´´(serve) boys´´ indicates that they are boys who will serve them. They are youths whose faces will be bright and due to the beauty of their colour, brightness of their faces and their ...

The Reason for the Large Number of Muhammad´s Nation (in Paradise)

The length of time the Prophet spent calling them to Allah is the shortest compared to the time spent by previous Prophets, peace and blessing of Allah be upon them all. It cannot also be said that the number of the previous nations is less than ours. Allah mentions that the previous nations are greater in number and population Allah says: ´´Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy portion awhile as those before you enjoued their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose deeds are in vain in this world and in the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers.´´ (At-Tawbah: 69) The reason is that the greatest miracle of Allah´s Messenger salla alayhi wa sallam was the Qur´an and revelation addresses people´s...

Tænk over det her

Eighty Rows!

The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam disclosed the size of his own nation in Paradise when he said: ´´The people of Paradise will number one hundred and twenty rows; out of which eighty rows will be yours-´´244 He also said to his Companions one day: ´´By Him in Whose Hands my life is, I hope that you will be one-fourth of the people of Paradise.´´ The Companions shouted. ´´Allahu Akbar!´´ In joy and jubilation. He added: ´´I hope that you will be one-third of the people of Paradise,´´ Again, they shouted.. ´´Allahu Akbar!´´ He said: ´´I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise.´´ They shouted: Allahu Akbar!´´ He further said in drawing a similitude of the multitude of his nation compared with other nations: ´´You are like a black hair in the skin of a white ox or like a white hair in the skin of a black ox. ´´245 He also mentioned that among the Prophets. he will have the largest followers of believers and disciples. He said: ´´I will be the first intercessor...

Ukaashah Preceded You

When the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam mentioned these attributes and eulogized the seventy thousand who would enter Paradise without reckoning of their accounts or receiving any punishment, the Companion yearned to be one of them. So, Ukaashah Ibn Mihsan got up and said (to the Prophet): ´´Neseech Allah to make meone of them.´´ The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´O Allah, make him one of them.´´ Then another man got up and said (to the prophet): ´´Beseech allah to make me one of them.´´ The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´Ukaashah has preceded you to it.´´243

These people have unique attributes:

They do not seek treatment through cauterization by fire. This form of treatment was popular among the Arabs. They would heat an iron in the fire and place it on the skin to brand it. They do not seek treatment through ryqyah: i.e. they do not request someone else to recite on them the ruqyah sha´iyyah, rather, they recite on themselves or they endure the hardship until Allah restones their health. They do not read omen in things: i.e. they do not become pessimistic. This is due to these people´s trust, reliance on Allah and submission to Him alone.

Introduction

A large number of our nation i.e. that of our Prophet Muhammad salla alayhi wa sallam whose number only Allah knows will enter Paradise. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´The people were displayed in front of me and I saw one prophet passing by with a large group of his followers, and another prophet passing by with only a small group of people, and another prophet passing by with only ten (people), and another prophet passing by with only five (people), and another prophet passed by alone- And then I lokked and saw a large multitude of people, so I aksed Jibreel: ´Are these people my followers?´ He said: ´No, but look towards the horizon.´ I looked and saw a very large multitude of people. Jibreel said: ´Those are your followers, and there are seventy thousand (people) in front of them who will not have any reckoning of their accounts nor will they receive any punishment.´ I asked: ´Why?´ He said: ´For they didn´t seek treatment with branding (cauterization) or with ruqy...

How Many Nations of Islam will be in Paradise

Which nation will be the majority in Paradise? What is the size of the population of the nation of Islam in it?

Who will be the majority in Paradise; males or females?

answer: The Companions were discussing this issue in the presence of Abu Hurayrah and he said: ´´Has Abul Qaasim not said: ´´They first batch (of people) who will enter Paradise will be (glittering) like a full moon; and those who will enter next will be (glittering) like the brightest star. Every one of them shall have two wives, each of whom will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the flesh. ´´241 This hadith is clear evidence that women will outnumber the men in Paradise. The number of women in Paradise doubles that of the men and even more. The enjoyment of the righteous women who enter Paradise is greater than that of the Hoor al-´ayn as shall be discussed later. How do we reconcile between the fact that women will be the majority of the swellers of Paradise and the following hadith: ´´O women! Give alms, for I have seen that you were the majority of the dwellers of Hellfir?´´ The answer to this is that women ...

Introduction

The majority of those who will enter Paradise are the weak whom people do not give any significance to; but in the Sight of Allah, they are important due to their modesty, humility to their Lord, and their worshipping Allah alone. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´May I informyou of the people of Paradise? (they are) Every weak and poor, obscure person whom the people look own upon but his oath is Ful-filled by Allah when he takes an oath to do something. May I inform you of the people of the Hellfire? They are all those violent, arrogant and stubborn people. ´´238 The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´I stood at the gate of Paradise and saw that the majority of the people who entered it were the poor, while the wealthy were stopped at the gate (for the accounts); but the companions of the Fire were ordered to be taken to the Fire.´´239 The rich and wealty would be detained i.e. they will be delayed from entering Paradise whilst the weak and poor will have...

With regard to the believers´ children who died in their infancy before attaining to puberty, they will be in Paradise too. The bedsteads of Paradise will be extremely beautiful soft, comfortable and smooth. Anyone who reclines on them will not be bored or weary. They are highly exquisite and cosy. Allah describes this in His Book to increase the yearning for it. Upon reciting the Words of Allah_ ´´On couches or thrones, raised high.´´ (Al-Waaqi´ah: 34) The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Its height is like the distance between the heaven and the earth and between them is a journey of five hundred years.´´232 To emphaises the fineness of these bedsteads, our Lor...

The muttaqun (pious), will be in place of security (Paradise), among gardens and springs; dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other.´´ (Ad-Dukhaan: 51-53) The people of Paradise will live in gardens of blooming shades, extremely beautiful with rivers flowing in all of its corners and birds gliding in its sky. They will be in  bliss donning garments of silk brocade; which is the most beautiful and softest silk. This dress will be embroidered with brocade which will embellish it with luster and elegance. In all of this grace, they will sit in Paradise on thrones facing each other, in mutual love and savouring abundance of geniality and delight. The verssels of Paradise will circulate around the dwellers of Paradise on their own

The believers willl be in on need to stand to pick any vessels; rather, the vessels will come to them and continue to do so as they wish. Allah says: ´´Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that the one´s inner-selves could desire, all that the eyes could delight in, and you will abide therein forever.´´ (Az-Zukhruf: 71) after theyhad settled down in Paradise, vessels of various types of gold will go around them with assorted foods. Cups of gold will also go around them with drinks. Contained in these vessels will be all that satisfy their inner selves and deliguth the eyes. They will eat, drink, enjoy themselves and be delighted. You shall live in Paradise forever.´´ These vessels are not only nice and beautiful; the utensils will go around the people of paradise on their own while they relax ...

Introduction

The names of the vessels of the world are similar to that of the Hereafter. Just as there are cups in the world, there are cups in the Hereafter too. Just as there are teapots here, there are teapots in the Hereafter too. There are plates of food in the world; there will be plates of food in Paradise too. However, the reality of the ones in Paradise in terms of their materials, perfection and delight are quite different from that of the world.

Vessels of Paradise

The enjoyment, sweetness and yearning for food and drink are increased by the sparkle and beauty of the vessel in which it is served. When the food is delicious and the vessel is delightful, the sweetness and enjoyment is perfect. What are these vessels? What are their types? What material are they made of?

On the banks of Al-Kauthar, there will be birds whose necks will be like that of camels

Large beautiful birds will circle around Al-Kauthar. Their necks will be like that of camels. Anas related: ´´The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam was asked: ´What is Al-Kauthar? He said: ´It is a river which Allah has granted me. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and in it are birds with necks like that of camels. ´Umar said: ´These birds will be in bliss´´. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam informed him that: ´Those who will eat them will be more blissful.´´´ i.e. as they enjoy themselves around the river in the pavilions of pearls. How beautiful is this description! Large birds with necks like those of camels, fleshy and delicious to eat. When Umar said: ´These birds will be in bliss,´ the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam: ´Those who eat them will be more blissful.´ Just as there are domes of hollowed pearls on the banks of Al-Kauthar, there are also around it pavilions of pearls to increase its beauty. The Messenger of Allah salla ala...

It will flow on pearls and gems

From its beauty and splendour is that its mud will be musk and the pebbles that will be scattered on the musk will be gemstones of pearls and rubies. This will increase its luster, sparkle, beauty and magnificence. The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´Al-Kauthar is a river in Paradise whose banks are of gold and it flows on rubies and gems. Its sand is musk and its water is sweeter than honey and whiter than snow.´´227

Its Banks are Hollowed Pearls

The two banks of this river are of hollowed pearl. This is indivative of the beauty and spendour of this river for it is encircled by domes of hollowed pealrs. Qubaab is the plural of Qubbah which is a high arched building and the hollowed pearl describes a large pearl that has a large cavity which makes it similar to a compelete dome. The Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´´While I was going through Paradise, I was shown a river at the bank of which there are domes of hollowed pearls. I said: ´O Jibreel what is this?´ He said: ´This is Al-Kauthar which Allah has granted you´ in allusion to the words of Allah. ´Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad (peave be upon him)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise).´ Then, he hit the mud with his hand and he brought out musk i.e. the angel dipped his hand into the bed of the river and he scooped out its sand and the Prophet saw that it is musk; one of the best perfumes. ´´226

Attributes of Al-Kauthar

Al-Kauthar is one of the rivers of Paradise and the waters of Paradise offer such delight, goodness and beauty that they have not been seen by any eye, heard by any ear and or occurred to any heart. Anas related: ´´One day the Messenger of Allah salla alayhi wa sallam was amongst us when he dozed off. He then raised his head smiling. We said: ´What makes you smile. O Messenger of Allah? He said: ´A Surah has just been revealed to me, and then he recited: ´ In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful; Verily, we have granted you (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise); therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only). For hw who maes you angry (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)), - he will be cut off (from every good thing in this world and in the Hereafter).´´ Then he (the Prophet) said: ´Do you know what Al-Kauthar is?´ We said: ´Allah and His Messenger know best.´ The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam said: ´It (Al-Kauthar) is a river ...

Al-Kauthar is the Biggest River in Paradise

Al-Kauthar is an attribute that indcates intensiveness of abundance. It is a river that feeds the Hawdh with water. What is the description of the water of Al-Kauthar? What are the decriptio of the pleasure and enjoyment it offers? There are a number ahadith describing the river of Al-Kauthar in the same manner as that of Al-Hawdh. This caused some people of knowledge to conclude that the Al-Kauthar that is meant in the following verse of the Qur´an. ´´Verily, We have granted you (O Muhammad) (Peace be upon him)) Al-Kauthar (a river in Paradise).´´ is Al-Hawdh. What is apparent is that Al-Hawdh will be on the plain of Resurrection on the Day of Qiyaamah but Al-Kauthar is a river in Paradise. The connection between the Hawdh and this river is that Al-Kauhar flows into the Hawdh and irrigates it. Hence, it is as if Al-Hawdh is a part and extension of Al-Kauthar; this is why they share the same attributes.

How can these rivers be from Paradise while they currently flow on the surface of the earth?

Answer: It means that the source of these rivers is from Paradise just as the source of the great rivers and oceans is the rainwater and the rain comes from the sky despite the fact that it flows into the rivers which in turn feed the oceans. In the same way, these rivers are irrigated from the rivers in Paradise.

Four Rivers of the World are among the River of Paradise

The Prophet salla alayhi wa sallam explained that there are some rivers in the world that are from the rivers of Paradise. He said: ´´Saihan, Jaihan, Euphrates and Nile are all among the rivers of Paradise.´´ 223 He also said: ´´Four are the rivers of Paradise which emerge from the root of the Lote Tree (Sidrat ul-Muntaha): Nile, Euphrates, Saihan and Jaihan. ´´224
